THOMASVILLE, NC--Lees-McRae College's Lee Squires has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's soccer Player of the Week during week number four of the 2007 season. The honor marks the third time this season a member of the men's soccer team has earned Conference Player of the Week honors.
Squires broke out of a four game scoring slump last week, burying four goals in two games to lead the No.18 Bobcats to two wins in Conference Carolinas action. After opening the season with five goals in three games, the forward from Sheffield, England struggled finding the net for a time, snapping the slump with a game winning goal in a 1-0 win over Limestone College. Squires made up for lost time burying a natural hat trick, including his conference leading third game-winning goal in a 5-0 win over Barton College.
With nine goals on the season, Squires sits tied with teammate Berin Boracic (Orlando, FL) for the Conference lead, as well as fourth in the nation in goals scored.
The Bobcats currently own an 8-1-1 record overall, and lead
Conference Carolinas with a record of 4-1. Up next, the team
