THOMASVILLE, NC--Lee Squires earned his second NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Player of the Week award this season after leading the #2 Lees-McRae Bobcats to a 2-0 record last week. A native of Sheffield, England, Squires factored in on all five goals the Bobcats scored in wins over North Georgia, 2-0, and St. Andrews Presbyterian College, 3-1.
Squires maintained his goal per game pace, scoring both goals in the two goal win over North Georgia, including his conference-leading fifth game-winning goal. The sharp shooting forward opened the scoring against St. Andrews, a matchup between Conference Carolinas top two teams that very well may have decided the Regular Season Championship. The Conference Carolinas leading scorer assisted on the Bobcats' two other goals, giving him eight points in two games on three goals and a pair of assists. In 13 games this season Squires has 13 goals and four assists for 30 points, scoring 2.31 points per game He is currently the nation's 12th leading scorer.
The Bobcats, ranked second in the nation, will hit the road for four of their final five games. Ranked first in the Southeast Region, the Bobcats will have a tough test Wednesday, October 10th when they travel to Greenwood, SC to take on Lander University, the second ranked team in the region. Kickoff is set for 5:00pm.
