Bobcats ranked sixth in NCAA Southeast Region Poll
INDIANAPOLIS --- The Lees-McRae College men's soccer team is ranked sixth in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Poll for the third straight week, announced NCAA officials Wednesday.
Lees-McRae (13-4-1, 9-2 Conference Carolinas) has not skipped a beat in Lees Squires' first year at the helm, capturing the Conference Carolinas Western Division title and claiming the second overall seed in the conference tournament with a 9-2 record against league opponents. The Bobcats have performed well under pressure this season, posting a 5-0-1 record when the match goes to extra time, including a 2-1 victory over regular season champion and then-No. 7 Coker College earlier this fall.
Coker (15-2-0) sits atop the region for the third week in a row, followed by Anderson University (14-3-0), Flagler College (11-3-1), Mars Hill College (11-2-1), and University of Montevallo (7-3-4). The Bobcats are sixth, followed by North Georgia College & State University (8-6-1), Lander University (8-5-2), Limestone College (11-6-0), and University of North Carolina at Pembroke (9-4-2).
Lees-McRae returns to the pitch on Friday when the second-seeded Bobcats host sixth-seeded Erskine College in the semifinal round at 7 p.m. on Tate Field. The Flying Fleet won the regular season matchup between the sides by a 3-1 score line in Banner Elk on Oct. 19.
