INDIANAPOLIS --- Junior Thomas Rusling (Sheffield, England) is ranked ninth in the nation in saves, and the Lees-McRae College men's soccer team is listed in eight individual and team categories in the latest edition of the NCAA Division II men's soccer statistics.
Lees-McRae (2-4, 1-0 Conference Carolinas) opened conference play with a strong performance against North Greenville University this past Saturday, keeping a clean sheet against the Crusaders en route to a 2-0 victory. The Bobcats enter the week ranked 23rd in the nation in save percentage (0.854), 27th in stops per match (5.83), 53rd in goals against average (0.98) and 62nd in shutout percentage (0.33).
Rusling begins the week ranked ninth in the nation in total saves, making 33 stops thus far while keeping a pair of clean sheets to become the fourth goalkeeper in program history to post 10 or more career shutouts. The junior netminder is also ranked 20th in save percentage (0.846), 28th in stops per match (5.5), and 55th in goals against average (0.983).
Lees-McRae returns to the pitch on Wednesday when the Bobcats host North Georgia College & State University at 3 p.m. on Tate Field.
