BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Junior Thomas Deeley tallied his first goal of the young season, but the Lees-McRae men's soccer team fell, 2-1, to Anderson (S.C.) in double overtime Thursday evening at Tate Field in Banner Elk, N.C.

The Trojans (1-0) scored a pair of unanswered goals while taking seven shots in the second half. The Bobcats (0-1) saw goalkeeper Tyler Pavlet (Goodyear, Ariz.) make four incredible saves despite taking the loss.

Deeley (Oxford, England) put LMC up early when he corralled a Taylor Gray (Hughesville, Md.) pass and blasted it past Devon Ashy at the 11:22 mark.

The assist was Gray's first collegiate point.

AU tied it on an unlikely play when a Brad Du Plooy free kick landed in the goalie's hands and he accidently backpedaled over the line with 18:52 remaining in regulation.

Deeley and Nathan Watt (Newcastle, United Kingdom) combined for seven of LMC's 10 shots while Pol Vassart (Arnhem, Netherlands) had the other three.

The Trojans notched the golden goal when Josh Calabria found the back of the net following a free kick with 7:38 on the clock.

The Bobcats travel to Carson-Newman Saturday, Sep. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Jefferson City, Tenn.
