BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Sophomore Pol Vassart scored a nifty goal in the second half, but the Lees-McRae men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision in overtime to Tusculum Wednesday evening at Tate Field in Banner Elk, N.C.

The Pioneers (2-0) had six players take multiple shots while Jorge Alvarez made four saves. The Bobcats (0-3) have fallen by identical 2-1 scores in all three contests this season.

Junior Thomas Deeley (Oxford, England) put a pair of shots on frame in the first 15 minutes, but was stonewalled twice by Alvarez.

TC broke a scoreless tie when Andre De Giorgi corralled a ball inside the box and eked a shot into the right side at the 21:47 mark.

Vassart (Arnhem, Netherlands) tied the contest at one when James Morgan (Newcastle, England) possessed the ball on the right side and delivered a pass to Deeley. Deeley quickly used a heel kick to find an open Vassart; Vassart blasted home the goal over the outstretched arms of Alvarez.

Junior Tyler Pavlet (Goodyear, Ariz.) made four clutch saves in the final 40 minutes of action to force OT.

The Pioneers' Andreas Kvam notched the golden goal after receiving a pass from Rocco Menna with 4:54 remaining in the extra session.

Deeley led the team with four shots while seven different Bobcats recorded one.
