HIGH POINT, N.C. – 18 Lees-McRae College soccer players were named to the Academic All-Conference Teams the league announced Monday morning. On the women's side, the Bobcats had 10 players receive the honor: Allyna Ankney, Erin Barcal, Lena Langille, Leanne McAlexander, Emma McGovern, Julie Perkins, Savannah Rees, Natalie Shuman, Kelsey Twigg and Cheyenne Warrick. Additionally, LMC had eight men's players make the team as well: Thomas Deeley, Isauro Estrada, David Frederick, Adam Hackett, Palle Jesperson, James Morgan, Marvyn Rieger and Nathan Watt.
Overall there were 169 student-athletes named to the 2016 Conference Carolinas Men's and Women's Soccer Academic All-Conference Teams for maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The GPA is calculated based on the student-athlete's cumulative average through the previous semester and each student-athlete must have attended their member institution for at least one academic year. Academic All-Conference Teams are comprised of juniors and seniors who play in one of Conference Carolina's twenty sponsored sports.
Both the men's and women's teams have earned spots in the Conference Carolinas Soccer Tournaments. The men's squad drew the No. 5 seed and will take on No. 4 Erskine later today at 7 p.m., while the women's team earned the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 Barton Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. from Tate Field.
