Chowan knocks off Bobcats 8-2 in 2016 season finale

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University Hawks scored early and often to defeat the Lees-McRae College men's soccer team, 8-2, Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Bobcats finish their 2016 season with a record of 5-14-0.

Chowan's Terrell Williamson scored the game's first goal just 15 seconds into play and added two more to register a hat trick. Lee Wattam, Kendal Presey, Ben Chapman, Jordan Young and Josh Baker also scored goals for the Hawks.

Both of Lees-McRae's goals came off the foot of Palle Jespersen. Jespersen's first goal came in the 55th minute and the second came in the 88th. The two-goal performance gives Jespersen six goals on the season, which ranks third on the Bobcats.

With the majority of this season's team being underclassmen, the Bobcats will return a good portion of their team heading into next season. Among returnees for 2017 are All-Conference Carolinas players James Morgan, Thomas Deeley and Pol Vassart.
