HIGH POINT, N.C. – Lees-McRae College men's soccer player Harvey McMorrow was named the Conference Carolinas men's soccer player of the week Monday morning by the league office. McMorrow is the second Bobcat in as many weeks to receive player of the week honors after teammate Tom Deeley received the honor last week.
McMorrow was instrumental in Lees-McRae maintaining its undefeated 5-0-1 record last week. First, McMorrow picked up a pair of assists in LMC's 3-2 come from behind victory at King (Tenn.) on Wednesday. The Maidstone, England native followed that performance up by scoring his first collegiate goal Saturday at Mount Olive, which proved to be the game-winner. It marked the third consecutive tilt where he either provided an assist on the game-winning goal or scored it himself. McMorrow leads the league with his six assists and is tied for second on the team with eight points.
"Harvey has done well for us this season and had two massive performances last week," remarked Bobcat Head Coach Rich Wall. "His delivery on set pieces has been spot on and his finish against Mount Olive was one that very few outside backs will produce. It's a joy to see new faces stepping up and providing the spark we need to get results particularly away from home."
McMorrow and the rest of the Bobcats will look to keep things rolling Wednesday when they host Lincoln Memorial at Tate Field. The start time for that contest is slated for 7:30 p.m.
