MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The No. 12 Lees-McRae College men's soccer team led Chowan University 2-1 going into the final minutes of Saturday's match until the Hawks tied the score at 2-2 with 1.3 seconds to go in regulation. After the scoring the tying goal, the Hawks won the game seven minutes into overtime to give the Bobcats their second straight loss and first defeat in conference play this season.

Palle Jespersen got the scoring started Saturday in the 12th minute when he received a pass from Luis Jimenez and found the back of the net. After Jespersen's goal, the score would remain 1-0 Bobcats for the remainder of the first half. It marked just the third time this season that the Bobcats have led at the intermission.

Chowan would tie the score at one with its first goal of the match in the 47th minute. The score would remain deadlocked at one until Johnannes Oeksnevad collected a deflected shot from Pol Vassart and put it back to give the Bobcats the lead again with just under four minutes to play in regulation.

As mentioned earlier, the Hawks tied the score again with just 1.3 seconds left. Toby Sims headed in a deflected shot to force overtime.

The Hawks would win the game at 97:24 when Terrell Williamson collected a shot off the post from Ben Chapman and got it past the Bobcat defense to give his team the victory.

The Bobcats, now 5-2-1 overall and 3-1-0 in conference play, will travel to Lenoir-Rhyne for a non-conference tilt Wednesday evening. Kickoff between the Bears and Bobcats is slated for 5 p.m.
