GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Lees-McRae College men's soccer team used a complete effort to pick up a 3-0 victory over Tusculum College Wednesday evening in Greeneville, Tennessee. The win not only improves Lees-McRae's record to 6-3-2 this season but it also surpasses the team's win total from last season.

Freshman Agustin Xavier Ortiz got the scoring started for Lees-McRae as he netted his first collegiate goal in the 29th minute on Wednesday. Ortiz collected a pass from Tom Deeley before burying it into the left corner of the goal to give the Bobcats an early 1-0 lead.

The Bobcats would add two more goals in the second half. First, Pol Vassart headed a pass from Harvey McMorrow off a corner kick past Tusculum's goalkeeper to make it 2-0 Lees-McRae. After Vassart's goal, Deeley received a pass from fellow senior David Frederick to tally his team-leading seventh goal of the season to round out the scoring Wednesday.

Goalkeeper Tyler Pavlet picked up his sixth win of the season and his second shutout of 2017 in the victory. Pavlet, who made four saves in the win, now has 22 wins in his career as a Bobcat and 11 career shutouts.

Lees-McRae will look to get a winning streak started Saturday when it hosts Belmont Abbey at Tate Field. Kickoff between the Bobcats and Crusaders is set for 7:30 p.m.
