BANNER ELK, N.C. – 11 different members of the Lees-McRae College men's soccer team scored at least one point as the Bobcats cruised to a 7-0 win over Erskine Saturday at Tate Field on the team's senior day. The seven goal outburst is the most for the team since November 3, 2009 when it scored eight goals. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 8-4-3 overall and 5-3-0 in league matches.
Junior Pol Vassart led all scorers with seven points by himself with three goals and an assist. For the second time in as many matches, senior Tom Deeley netted a pair of goals and added an assist for a five-point outing. With the two goals, Deeley is tied for fifth on the all-time goal scoring list at Lees-McRae with 35 career goals. Palle Jespersen and Matthew Dunn also tallied goals for the Bobcats in the decisive victory.
Seniors James Morgan and Nathan Watt with two and three assists, respectively. With his three assist outing, Watt moves into a tie for fifth place on the program's all-time assist list with 23. As for Morgan, it marked the first two-assist performance of his collegiate career. Fellow senior David Frederick along with Niklas Perslow, Harvey McMorrow and Kelvin Woods all chipped in assists as well.
Tyler Pavlet did not make a save in Saturday's win but he did get credit for the victory after playing 74 of the match's 90 minutes. With the victory, Pavlet improves his record to 8-4-3 in 2017.
Lees-McRae will look to pick up another conference win on Tuesday when North Greenville comes to Banner Elk. LMC and NGU are scheduled to get underway at 7:30 p.m.
