BANNER ELK, N.C. – Coming off a season where it returned to the national polls, the Lees-McRae College men's soccer team hopes to duplicate that success this fall as it announced its 2018 schedule Friday afternoon. The 2018 schedule includes two exhibition matches, 10 Conference Carolinas contests and 11 tilts at Tate Field. LMC will open its schedule August 18 when it hosts Wingate in an exhibition, and it will open its regular season on August 30 at Anderson University.
Along with their exhibition matchup against Wingate on the 18th of August, the Bobcats will also travel to Cleveland, Tennessee to take on Lee University in another friendly bout on August 25.
After the Bobcats kick off their regular season on the road at Anderson, they will return home to Banner Elk for back-to-back non-conference tilts against Lenoir-Rhyne (Sept. 1) and Mars Hill (Sept. 5). Lees-McRae will then head to the Palmetto State for the first time in 2018 for conference matches at Southern Wesleyan (Sept. 8) and North Greenville (Sept. 11).
LMC will close out September playing four of its last five matches on the mountain. The lone road trip the Bobcats make in the final two weeks of the month is on September 22 to Erskine. During that stretch of days, Lees-McRae will play host to Chowan (Sept. 15), Tusculum (Sept. 19), Limestone (Sept. 26) and Mount Olive (Sept. 29).
The month of October will begin with three non-conference matches for the Bobcats, including a pair at Tate Field. LMC will host Newberry on October 3 before welcoming Milligan College into town on October 6 in the program's homecoming match. Following those two matchups, Lees-McRae will step out of conference play for the final time in the regular season on October 10 when it visits Catawba.
Rounding out the 2018 regular season for Lees-McRae will be four Conference Carolinas matches. Starting this stretch will be trips to Belmont Abbey (Oct. 13) and Barton (Oct. 20). LMC will wrap up its season with home bouts against rival King (Oct. 23) and Emmanuel on October 26. The game on the 26th of October will be the team's senior day celebration.
The 2018 Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Tournament will begin with the four quarterfinal matches on campus sites on October 30. The semifinals and final will played on November 1 and 3, respectively, at the highest remaining seed's home pitch.
