GREENWOOD, Ind. - Two Lees-McRae College soccer athletes were selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Teams for NCAA Division II District Three in Pol Vassart and Amamanda Lubkemann, College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced today (Thursday, Nov. 8).
LMC's honorees represented half of those selected from Conference Carolinas. District Three is comprised of member institutions from Conference Carolinas, the South Atlantic Conference and the Peach Belt Conference. Vassart was named to the District Three men's first team, while Lubkemann was named to the District Three women's first team. The teams were nominated and selected by members of CoSIDA.
Vassart led the conference in goals this season with 15 and points with 39, while being tied for second in the league in assists with nine. In conference play, Vassart totaled seven goals and five assists for 19 points, which was the highest total of any individual within Conference Carolinas. Vassart paced the conference in most offensive categories for most of the season. Vassart finished his career at LMC in fourth on the career goals list (38), fifth on the all-time list in match-winning goals (11) and tied for fifth in single-season match-winning goals (five). He is also a two-time selection to the Conference Carolinas All-Academic Team. The Tournon sur-Rhone, France native is the son of Valerie and Yan Vassart, and is a business administration major in which he has a 3.63 grade point average (GPA).
Lubkemann appeared in 12 matches during her second season at LMC, making two starts. She was a key piece defensively in two shutouts over Chowan (1-0, Oct. 8) and King (Tenn.) (1-0, Oct. 23). The Boone, N.C. native is the daughter of Jonathan and Michelle Lubkemann, and is a biology major with a biomedical concentration with a 4.00 GPA.
