Vassart, McMorrow Named to NCCSIA All-State First Team

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - Lees-McRae College men's soccer players Pol Vassart and Harvey McMorrow were named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association's College division All-State First Team, the organization announced on Monday (Nov. 19).

The NCCSIA's teams are separated into University (Division I) and College (Division II, III and NAIA) divisions. The teams are nominated and voted on by NCCSIA members and sports information professionals in the state of North Carolina.

This is Vassart's second consecutive all-state first team selection. Vassart led the conference in goals this season with 15 and points with 39, while being tied for second in the league in assists with nine. In conference play, Vassart totaled seven goals and five assists for 19 points, which was the highest total of any individual within Conference Carolinas. Vassart paced the conference in most offensive categories for most of the season. Recently, he was named to the D2CCA All-Southeast Region First Team, his first career all-region selection. Vassart was also a four-time All-Conference Carolinas selection, being picked to the first team in each of the last two seasons. This season, he was also named the Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year. Vassart finished his career at LMC in fourth on the career goals list (38), fifth on the all-time list in match-winning goals (11) and tied for fifth in single-season match-winning goals (five). He is also a two-time selection to the Conference Carolinas All-Academic Team as well as the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. He has also been named to the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll three consecutive years. The Tournon sur-Rhone, France native is the son of Valerie and Yan Vassart, and is a business administration major.

This is McMorrow's second consecutive all-state first team selection. He has also been selected to the D2CCA All-Southeast Region First Team once, and also been named all-conference twice in his career. McMorrow finished the season fourth on the team in goals with four, while being tied for the team lead and second in the league in assists with nine. His 17 points were the third-highest total on the team and ninth in the league. Academically, he has made the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll two consecutive years. The Maidstone, England native is the son of Hayley Honey, and is a business administration major.
