AUSTIN, Texas - Senior forward Pol Vassart of Lees-McRae College men's soccer was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America second team, announced today (Wednesday, Dec. 5).
Members of the Google Cloud Academic All-America teams are nominated and voted on by sports information professionals and members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
This is Vassart's first career academic All-American selection. Vassart led the conference in goals this season with 15 and points with 39, while being tied for second in the league in assists with nine. In conference play, Vassart totaled seven goals and five assists for 19 points, which was the highest total of any individual within Conference Carolinas. Vassart paced the conference in most offensive categories for most of the season. Vassart finished his career at LMC in fourth on the career goals list (38), fifth on the all-time list in match-winning goals (11) and tied for fifth in single-season match-winning goals (five). He was named the 2018 Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year, and also selected to the All-Conference Carolinas First Team. In total, he is a four-time all-conference selection, as well as being selected to the All-NCCSIA First Team each of the last two seasons and also being a two-time all-region selection. He is also a two-time selection to the Conference Carolinas All-Academic Team, a two-time selection to CoSIDA's Academic All-District Team and a three-time Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll selection. The Tournon sur-Rhone, France native is the son of Valerie and Yan Vassart, and is a business administration major with a 3.63 grade point average.
