BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's soccer team will welcome Anderson (S.C.) and Southern Wesleyan to Banner Elk this week as the team opens its home schedule. The Bobcats will host Anderson on Wednesday before SWU comes to the High Country on Saturday. Kickoff times are set for 7 and 4 p.m., respectively.
Last Time Out – The Bobcats dropped a 4-0 decision on the road at Lenoir-Rhyne Sunday evening. With the loss, Lees-McRae's record moved to 0-1-1 on the young 2019 campaign.
Back home on the mountain – Lees-McRae looks to get things rolling as this week begins a string of three straight home matches. Like most programs, the Bobcats have more success playing at home as opposed to on the road. The Bobcats have won at least six matches at home in four of the past five seasons.
About the Opponents – Anderson comes into Wednesday's matchup in Banner Elk with a record of 1-1-0. The Trojans knocked off Southern Wesleyan by a score of 2-0 last Saturday but fell on the road to Clayton State on Thursday.
Southern Wesleyan, meanwhile, has played just one match so far with that being the aforementioned contest against Anderson. SWU's other contest, which was supposed to be against Coker, was canceled due to effects of Hurricane Dorian.
Series Histories vs. Opponents – Lees-McRae has plenty of history between its two opponents this week. The Bobcats are 16-13-1 all-time against Anderson with the first meeting occurring all the way back in 1986. The series against Southern Wesleyan, meanwhile, has been fairly even since beginning in 2014 with the Bobcats holding the slight edge winning three of the five matchups.
