BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's soccer team fell to Anderson (S.C.) University by a score of 3-0 in a non-conference matchup Wednesday evening at Tate Field. With the loss, the Bobcats move to 0-2-1 on the season.
Anderson picked up the first goal of the contest in the 28th minute when Alexander Cox-Ashwood collected a cross and beat the Bobcat keeper to give his team the early advantage. The Trojans would score again in the 56th and 63th minute to extend their lead and eventually seal their second win of the season.
The Bobcats totaled 12 shots in the contest with just three being on net. Agustin Ortiz paced the efforts with five attempts with Harvey McMorrow and Johan Hedberg picking up the other two attempts that were on goal.
Goalkeeper Anton Sundstrom took the loss in goal for the Bobcats after making six saves in nine tries. His record dips to 0-2-1 with the defeat.
Lees-McRae will return to action on Saturday when it hosts Southern Wesleyan in its first Conference Carolinas match of the season. Kickoff between the Bobcats and Warriors is set for 4 p.m.
