BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's soccer team will return home this week to host North Greenville and Emmanuel at Tate Field. The Bobcats will host NGU Wednesday evening before taking on EC Saturday afternoon as a part of Homecoming weekend. Wednesday's match is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff, while Saturday's tilt is set to begin at 4:15 p.m.
Last Time Out – In their last match, the Bobcats tied Mount Olive on the road by a score of 4-4. With the tie, the Bobcats are now 1-4-2 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play.
Scoring in bunches – Despite the tie at UMO, the Bobcats scored a season-high four goals in that contest. Lees-McRae hopes the scoring chances continue as the season progresses as the team is 8-0-0 over the past two seasons when scoring three or more goals in a game.
Joining the 100 save club – Sophomore Anton Sundstrom needs just three more saves to reach the 100-save plateau for his collegiate career. Sundstrom will be just the tenth Bobcat keeper ever to reach 100 saves.
About the Opponents – North Greenville will come to Banner Elk on Wednesday in search of its first victory of the 2019 campaign. NGU is currently 0-7-0 overall and 0-3-0 against Conference Carolinas teams.
Emmanuel comes into this week's action on the opposite end of the spectrum compared to NGU. The Lions are 5-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in league action. The lone defeat for the Lions this season has been against nationally-ranked Young Harris in their season opener. In the team's five victories, Emmanuel has outscored its opponents, 13-2.
Series Histories vs. Opponents – The Bobcats have winning records against both North Greenville and Emmanuel in the respective all-time series. Lees-McRae is 12-2-1 against NGU since 1986. Against Emmanuel, the Bobcats have won three of the five all-time meetings between the two programs.
