BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's soccer team notched a 2-1 victory over North Greenville Wednesday night at Tate Field. With the victory, the Bobcats improve to 2-4-2 overall and 2-1-1 within Conference Carolinas play.
Lees-McRae and North Greenville would trade goals in the opening half. LMC's goal came courtesy of Johannes Oeksnevad on an assist by Johan Hedberg. For Oeksnevad, it was his second goal of the season. The winning goal for Lees-McRae came in the 58th minute when Eduardo Olavide beat the NGU keeper on a pass from Mikael Saekingstad to put the Bobcats in front for good.
The Bobcats controlled most of Wednesday's contest. Lees-McRae outshot North Greenville 20-4 in the matchup, while also holding the edge corner kicks (six to two).
Sophomore Anton Sundstrom earned the victory in goal for the Bobcats pushing his record to 2-4-2 on the season. Sundstrom collected two saves in the win on three opportunities.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Saturday when they host Emmanuel as a part of the Homecoming festivities. Kickoff between the Bobcats and Lions is slated for 4:15 p.m. from Tate Field.
