BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's soccer team fell to Barton College by a score of 3-0 Saturday afternoon at Tate Field. The loss moves Lees-McRae's record to 3-9-2 and 3-5-2 in conference action.
There was not a ton of offensive chances in Saturday's match with just a total of 17 shots taken between the two teams in the contest. Lees-McRae held the advantage in shots (9-8) but couldn't find the back of the net. The Bulldogs, meanwhile, scored three times on their eight opportunities with one goal in the first half and then two more in the second half.
Of the nine shots that Lees-McRae took in the contest, four were on goal. Cameron Morton attempted three shots with one of those shots being on goal. Connor Hahn, Stephon Davis and Palani Nieknul also logged attempts in the match.
Anton Sundstrom made the start in goal for the Bobcats and played the entire 90 minutes. Sundstrom, whose record moves to 3-9-2 with the loss, made three saves on six shots faced.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Monday when they play host to Belmont Abbey. The match, which is a result of a postponement earlier this season, is scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. from Tate Field.
