Swimming falls twice at Mars Hill

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College swimming programs dropped a pair of contests to Mars Hill Saturday afternoon. The women's team fell to Lions by a final score of 172-39, while the men's squad dropped a 157-77 decision to MHU. Individually, the Bobcats collected six event wins on the day.

Women's Recap – The women's team picked up a pair of event victories Saturday. Kayla Fleming won the 50 yard freestyle event with a time of 25.94, while Elli Seabrook came out on top in the 100 yard butterfly with a mark of 1:06.19. For both swimmers, it marks the first collegiate victories of their respective careers.

Men's Recap – The tandem of Arsham Mirzaei and Javier Sanchez paced the men's team against the Lions. Both Bobcats won two events each. Mirzaei won the 50 yard freestyle (22.08) and 100 yard butterfly (53.56) to bring his season win total to three. Sanchez, meanwhile, came out on top in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:18.13) and the 200 yard individual medley (2:04.05).

Next Up – Lees-McRae will be back in action next Saturday when it visits Greensboro College. Start time for that meet is set for 1 p.m.
