Wilson, NC--The Men's Tennis Team traveled to Barton College in Wilson, NC to compete in the 2006 ITA Regional tournament held September 29 - October 1. Fueled by the experience of the CVAC Championships played the previous weekend and led by Singles Consolation Quarterfinal finishes by Ricardo Velazquez and Alek Mojski, performances were significantly stronger from all players. Coach Goode commented on the weekend stating, "We played much more relaxed this weekend. We did a better job of limiting our unforced errors; all of the guys have made significant improvements over the last few weeks. We need to continue to work hard and the wins will come."

Men's Singles:

A Flight:Ricardo Velazquez rocketed back from a tough 0-6, 3-6 loss against number 7 seed, G. Echevarria, of Columbus State in the round of 32 to play an outstanding match opposite M. Bal of North Georgia State, winning the 1st Round Consolation 1-6, 6-4, 1-0. After a 2nd Round Consolation Bye and a 3rd Round win due to an opponents injury, Velazquez was propelled into the Consolation Quarterfinal. Velazquez had an exciting match-up with number 2 seed, Robert Jenner from Barton College, but was unable to come away with the win conceding to a 4-6, 5-7 loss.

Alek Mojski also led the Lees-McRae team with his Consolation Quarterfinal finish. After a tough 4-6, 2-6 loss to Augusta State's Arturo Figuerio, Mojski won 1st Round Consolation due to his opponents injury followed by a 2nd round bye. A hard fought 3rd Round against Jacob Eastwood of North Georgia College proved an exciting victory for Mojski. Mojski won the first set a close 7-6, but Eastwood rallied back to tie it up with a second set victory, 7-5. Eastwood was unable to take the match win from Mojski who finished the match tie breaker with a victory. Mojski moved on to the Consolation Quarterfinal where he was matched against Armstrong Atlantic's Christian Bergh, but was unable to come away with the win, losing 2-6, 0-6.

Men's Doubles:

Tough flight play proved difficult for the doubles teams of Mojski/ Velazquez and Meunow/ Mills.

In Flight A, Mojski and Velazquez suffered a disappointing 0-8 loss at the hands of Augusta State's Figuerio/ Mullor team. Their 1st Round Consolation match-up against the Mody/ Yadav team from Queens was well played and hard fought, but team Mojski/ Velazquez was unable to come away with the win, losing 6-8.
The LMC double's team of Meunow and Mills faced similar challenges in the B Flight. Their 1-8 round of 32 loss to the team of Lage and Serra from Mount Olive College dropped them into Consolation Round play where they faced Gregory and Zingulas of Erskine. Meunow and Mills found a similar fate to Mojski and Velazquez, losing 3-8.
