Men's Tennis Downed by App. State, 7-0

BOONE, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae men's tennis dropped a 7-0 decision to crosstown rival Appalachian State at the Deer Valley Racquet Club in Boone, N.C. Sunday afternoon.

The Mountaineers (1-1) picked up their first win of the season while not dropping a set all afternoon. The Bobcats (1-3) saw impressive play from Garrett Lakey (North Wilkesboro, N.C.) at No. 5 singles.

The Mountaineers earned the doubles point after Steve Lake and Jake Haddocks defeated Lakey and Alford (Hillsborough, N.C.) in No. 3 play, 8-3.

ASU took all six singles matches despite strong play from Lakey. The freshman battled Lake to a 6-4, 6-4 decision.

LMC returns to action when it travels to Salisbury, N.C. to take on Catawba at 1 p.m. Feb. 13.
