Men’s Tennis drops a close match on the road at Montreat Tuesday, 5-4

BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C.  – The Lees-McRae College men's tennis team narrowly missed out on picking up its first victory of the spring Tuesday afternoon but fell just short to Montreat College, 5-4. The loss moves the Bobcats' record to 0-4 on the season.

After falling twice in doubles action, the Bobcats rebounded to win three of the six singles contests to get back in the match but fell to the Cavaliers, 5-4. Sebastian Zuhr and Gabriel Muniz both went a perfect 2-0 with wins in both singles and doubles to lead the Bobcats.

5. Ben Cree (MON) def. Brandon Caldwell (LMC-M) 7-5, 3-6 (10-7)
6. Anh Hoang (MON) def. Colton Porter (LMC-M) 6-3, 6-1

Doubles competition
1. Gabriel Muniz/Sebastian Zuhr (LMC-M) def. Jacob Summerville/Grayson Chumley (MON) 8-1
2. Ben Cree/Anh Hoang (MON) def. Rusty Batten/Matt Meluch (LMC-M) 9-8
3. Leopoldo Lucero/Jackson Plyler (MON) def. Brandon Caldwell/Colton Porter (LMC-M) 8-5

The Bobcats will return to action after spring break when they host King on March 13 in Banner Elk. Start time for that match is set for noon.
