Bobcats win second straight with 5-2 victory over Johnson C. Smith on Sunday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College men's tennis team earned its second straight win with a 5-2 victory at Johnson C. Smith on Sunday (Feb. 24).

Johnson C. Smith was able to take two out of three doubles matches to earn the one point in doubles play, before Lees-McRae won five out of six singles matches to get the victory.

Miodrag Popovic and Fitzgerald Lomp teamed up for a 7-6 win at No. 1 doubles for the lone doubles win for Lees-McRae.

Popovic would win in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, before Matt Meluch won at No. 2 singles 6-2, 7-6. Lomp would cap his day off with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles, before James Kirkham would get the 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles. Brandon Caldwell would earn the 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles to close things out for Lees-McRae.

The Bobcats (4-2) are back in action on Tuesday (Feb. 26) at Catawba in a make-up of a previously postponed match. The match begins at 2 p.m.
