Bobcats host Southern Wesleyan, North Greenville in league action this weekend

BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College tennis teams play host to Southern Wesleyan on Saturday (Apr. 6) and North Greenville on Sunday (Apr. 7) in Conference Carolinas action. Both matches will start at 1 p.m.

About the Bobcats

Men

Lees-McRae enters the week at 5-12 overall and 0-3 in Conference Carolinas, with 32 combined singles wins and 11 combined doubles wins. Fitzgerald Lomp and Miodrag Popovic, along with Brandon Caldwell and Colton Porter each have three wins in doubles play, while James Kirkham and Matt Meluch also have two doubles wins. Two other doubles pairings each have one win on the season. Meluch leads the team in singles wins with eight, while while Popovic also has six wins in singles play and Kirkham has five. Lomp and Porter each have three singles wins on the season, while Caldwell and Harrison Morris each have two wins in singles play.

Women

The Bobcats enter the week at 9-10 overall and 1-4 in Conference Carolinas, with a combined 28-27 doubles record and also with 41 combined singles wins.  Sandy Allen and Nursharneem Shamsuddin lead the Bobcats with 11 doubles wins, while the tandems of Zeynep Cakirer and Mackenzie Langmade and Jaden Acklin and Rebecca Pierce each have six wins in doubles play. Jaden Acklin and Dakota Tittle also have three wins as a doubles tandem, while two other doubles pairs each have one win. Acklin leads the team with nine singles wins, while Cakirer also has eight singles wins. Allen has seven wins in singles play, while Shamsuddin has won six singles matches. Pierce has recorded five wins in singles play, while Langmade has picked up four wins and Tittle also has one.

Southern Wesleyan enters the week at 3-10 overall and 0-5 in Conference Carolinas, traveling to King (Tenn.) on Friday (Apr. 5) before coming to face Lees-McRae.

 North Greenville enters the week at 3-13 overall and 1-4 in Conference Carolinas, traveling to King (Tenn.) on Saturday (Apr. 6) before coming to Banner Elk. The Crusaders have combined for 16 doubles wins and 27 singles wins so far on the season. Pierre Bedard and Robin van der Heijde lead the team with five doubles wins, while Yannis Moulod and Francisco Tico along with Moulod and Kaey-Den Tan each have two wins in doubles play. Five other doubles tandems each have one win so far on the season. Bedard leads the team in singles play with eight wins, while Giacomo Garini also has five singles wins. Three other Crusaders each have three singles wins, while Moulod has two and Keegan Harrison also has one.

Women

Southern Wesleyan enters the matchup at 1-11 and 0-6 in Conference Carolinas, traveling to King (Tenn.) on Friday (Apr. 5) before coming to Banner Elk.  

North Greenville enters the week at 4-13, including a 2-4 mark in Conference Carolinas, traveling to King (Tenn.) on Saturday (Apr. 6) before coming to Banner Elk. North Greenville comes into the weekend with 14 combined doubles wins and 29 combined singles wins. Three different doubles pairs share the team lead with three wins, while Gala Castello and Fernanda de Lucca have two wins as a doubles tandem. Two other doubles pairs have each won one match so far on the season. De Lucca leads the team in singles play with nine wins, while Jhovana Brena and Castello each have six wins in singles play. Bethany Tankersley also has three wins in singles play, while Lizeth Medina Diaz has two and Kinsley Gardner has one.

Men

Since 2006, this will be the fifth all-time meeting between Lees-McRae and Southern Wesleyan in men's tennis. Southern Wesleyan leads the series in that time span 3-1.  

Since 2006, this will be the eighth all-time meeting between Lees-McRae and North Greenville in men's tennis. North Greenville has won the previous seven meetings.

Women

Since 2006, this will be the fifth all-time meeting between Lees-McRae and Southern Wesleyan in women's tennis. Southern Wesleyan leads the series in that span 3-1.  

Since 2006, this will be the eighth all-time meeting between Lees-McRae and North Greenville in women's tennis. North Greenville leads the series 6-1 in that span.
