BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College men's tennis team earned its first Conference Carolinas win of the season on Saturday (Apr. 6), defeating Southern Wesleyan 5-2.
The match could not be played to its entirety due to Southern Wesleyan only having four players.
Lees-McRae would get the doubles point with two wins including one by default, before winning two out of four singles matches to get the victory.
Matt Meluch and James Kirkham picked up a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles, while Colton Porter and Brandon Caldwell won by default which secured the doubles point. Miodrag Popovic earned a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles, while Kirkham earned a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles. Caldwell and Porter also earned default wins in singles play.
The Bobcats are back at home tomorrow (Sunday, Apr. 7) to host North Greenville at 1 p.m.
