HIGH POINT, N.C. – 157 Lees-McRae College student-athletes were named to the 2017 Fall Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll on Thursday morning by the league office. Eight teams had 10 or more student-athletes honored with the men’s and women’s soccer squads leading the way with 19 and 18 honorees, respectively.

BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae College’s Vice President of Athletics and Club Sports Craig McPhail announced Thursday morning the hiring of Lieutenant Colonel Rodger Acklin as the school’s new Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach. Acklin, who is a former Bobcat tennis player himself, is a 1997 graduate of Lees-McRae.
BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men’s tennis program announced the signing of Rusty Batten (Albemarle, N.C.) for the 2017-18 season Thursday afternoon. Batten joins fellow signee Matthew Meluch (Statesville, N.C.) as members of the incoming recruiting class for LMC Head Coach Don Marriott as he enters his third season.

From the women’s team, Amanda Chapman was named to the team, while Thomas Deeley, Garrett Lakey and Sebastian Zuhr from the men’s team were also honored.

DUE WEST, S.C. – Five of the six members of the Lees-McRae College men’s tennis team that saw action Tuesday at Erskine won at least one match, but it wasn’t enough as the Flying Fleet edged the Bobcats, 5-4. The loss moves LMC to 1-12 overall and 0-6 in Conference Carolinas action.

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men’s tennis team will be back in action with three matches this week. LMC will travel to Catawba Wednesday for a 2 p.m. match. Following its matchup with the Indians, Lees-McRae will return home Friday to host Southern Wesleyan at 2 p.m. before closing out the week with a tilt against North Greenville Saturday at 1 p.m.

BANNER ELK, N.C. – Due to the wintry weather and cold temperatures expected in Banner Elk Wednesday, the Lees-McRae College men’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s tennis teams have all announced schedule changes. The tennis matches Wednesday against Pfeiffer have been postponed along with the lacrosse game against Tusculum. All three contests don’t have make-up dates as of yet.

BREVARD, N.C. – After a burst of rain postponed play Saturday, the Lees-McRae College men’s tennis team and Brevard College resumed their match Tuesday afternoon. The Bobcats ended up dropping the match by a 7-2 score. The loss drops LMC’s record to 1-4 on the season.
BREVARD, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women’s tennis team picked up a rain-shortened 5-0 victory at Brevard College Saturday. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 3-1 on the season. Additionally, the Lees-McRae College men’s tennis team’s match against Brevard was postponed due to the rain that interrupted the women’s match. An update on the status of the men’s match will be made early next week.
