Winston-Salem, NC--LMC sophomore Jonathan Arthur (Pine Level, NC) set a new school record in the men's pole vault with a jump of 4.75m (15ft-7in) en route to winning the B-section of the event and finishing in the top six overall. He took three excellent attempts at 4.80m (15ft-9in) which would have made him a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Division II national championships.
The Lees-McRae College men's track team had several solid performances on the second day of the Wake Forest Open on the campus of Wake Forest University. Sophomore sprinter Alan Bachman (Nanjemoy, MD) competed in the second heat of the men's 100m dash final. He finished the event in 13th place overall. In the 200m dash, he exploded for a personal best time of 22.36 seconds to place him 31st overall in that event.
Fellow sophomore Adam Phillips (Spruce Pine, NC) set a personal best performance in the men's 200m dash with a time of 23.04 seconds. Phillips also competed in the men's long jump and the men's 4x100m relay.
Nathan Smith was just two tenths of the second off of his personal best time in the men's 400m hurdles.
The Bobcat men's track team will return to action on Thursday,
March 27th at the Milligan Relays in Johnson City, TN.
