Bobcats shine on first day of Asics Classic
ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Austin High (Chesnee, S.C.) and Craig Simpkins (Boiling Springs, S.C.) each recorded a top-10 finish in the 5,000-meter run to pace the Lees-McRae College men's track and field team to a solid showing on the first day of the first day of the Asics Classic, hosted by Winthrop University.
High finished sixth with a time of 15:57.00, while Simpkins placed eighth with a mark of 16:01.87. Eric Cloy (Ball Ground, Ga.) turned in a 12th-place showing in the long jump with a mark of 6.17 meters, as the Bobcats grabbed the 11th, 12th, 13th, and 15th spots in the men's shot put competition. Devan Mackey (Hickory, N.C.) placed 11th with a mark of 11.87 meters, while Dimitrius Frazier (Charlotte, N.C.) and Jordan Wilbur (Chesterfield, S.C.) finished 12th and 13th with marks of 10.95 and 10.75 meters, respectively. Blake Rodgers (Chesterfield, S.C.) also placed 15th with a mark of 10.46 meters.
Lees-McRae returns to action on Saturday on the second and final day of the Asics Classic on the Winthrop campus.
