Bobcats top region for third straight week

NEW ORLEANS --- The Lees-McRae College men's track and field team sits atop the 2012 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association Indoor Track and Field Southeast Region Poll for the third straight week, announced USTFCCCA officials Tuesday.

Lees-McRae tops the region with a total of 368.14, followed by Mount Olive College (313.10), Mars Hill College (247.31), Limestone College (217.73), and Clayton State University (206.70). King College is sixth with a mark of 204.24, followed by Anderson University (152.41), Queens University of Charlotte (139.25), and Lenoir-Rhyne University (129.94).

The Bobcats performed well this past weekend at the Kent Taylor Invitational Indoor Track and Field Meet, posting six top-10 finishes as a team. Sophomore Evan Webb (Salisbury, N.C.) recorded a personal-best of 4.61 meters in the pole vault, finishing sixth in the event as junior Kevin Dever (Leesburg, N.J.) placed seventh with a mark of 4.31 meters.

Lees-McRae returns to action Friday, February 17 when the Bobcats travel to Boone, N.C. to take part in Appalachian State University's Pre-Conference Meet.
