HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Lees-McRae College junior Evan Webb (Salisbury, N.C.) has been named the Conference Carolinas Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career, announced league officials Wednesday.
Webb continued his impressive season with a record-tying performance at the Hilton Garden Invitational, equaling the JDL Center mark with a vault of 4.90 meters to finish third out of 50 competitors. His third-place finish was the highest of any non-NCAA Division I competitor.
The Salisbury, N.C. native has put together a strong indoor season for the Bobcats, setting a new school record and moving into a tie for fourth on the national leader board with a vault of 5.00 meters en route to a win in the pole vault competition.
Lees-McRae returns to competition on Saturday, February 16 when the Bobcats return to the JDL Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. for the inaugural Conference Carolinas Indoor Track and Field Championships.
