Bingham’s record-breaking performance headlines day two of the Appalachian State Invitational

BOONE, N.C. – Senior Erin Bingham broke the program's indoor record for the women's 55m hurdles with a time of 8.49 to headline day two of the Appalachian State Invitational. In addition to Bingham's performance, seven other Bobcats notched top 10 finishes. As far as team standings for the meet, the women's team finished third among 11 squads, while the men's team notched a fourth place finish.

Six of the top 10 finishes for the Bobcats came on the men's side. Austin Thompson finished fourth in the 3000m run with a time of 9:21.51. Freshman Brandon Prescott notched a fifth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 6.71m, while Kendall Isler also finished fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.90m.

In the running events on the men's side, Cody McNeely and Vicente Sanchez both finished sixth in the one mile run and the 400m dash, respectively.  In addition to the performance by Bingham, Mekayla Boswell finished seventh in the high jump with a mark of 1.56m.

The Bobcats will return to action Feb. 3-4 when they compete in the Buccaneer Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn.

Sarah Bowman – 12th – 3000m run – 12:08.16

Kaitlyn Gearing – 13th – 200m dash – 28.05

Joshua Goodwin – 17th – Shot Put – 12.50m

Kayla Powell – 18th – Shot Put – 10.53m

Dalton Tallent – 21st – 55m dash – 6.82

Jordyn Halvorsen – 23rd – One Mile Run – 6:38.02

Kaitlyn Gearing – 24th – 55m dash – 8.00
