BANNER ELK, N.C. – After enjoying the holiday break, the Lees-McRae College track & field programs will resume their indoor seasons this weekend when they make the trek to Johnson City, Tenn. to compete in the ETSU Track & Field Invitational.
About the Bobcats: The Bobcats have one meet already under their belt this season. LMC competed in the JDL Kickoff Classic in early December. Lees-McRae had four athletes finish in the top 15 in their respective events. Kaitlyn Gearing posted the best finish of the women's team with a ninth place mark in the long jump. On the men's side, Nolan Capps led the way finishing 12th in the 3000m run.
Preseason Prognostication: Lees-McRae will look to outdo the preseason expectations this season. LMC's men's team was picked to finish fourth and the women were picked to finish seventh according to the Conference Carolinas Preseason Coaches' Poll.
About the Meet: The meet is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Friday morning with the women's weight throw before concluding with the Men's 5000m Run at 5:45 p.m. The student-athletes will resume competition at 8:35 a.m. Saturday with the 3000m run with events running all day until 5:50 p.m. when the Men's 4 x 400m Relay closes out the weekend.
