Bobcats wrap up day one of the Buccaneer Classic Friday

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Lees-McRae College track and field programs closed out day one of the Buccaneer Classic Friday in Johnson City, Tenn. Overall, the Bobcats had four top 15 finishes, and two in the top 10.

Senior Kaitlyn Gearing posted the best finish of any Bobcat Friday finishing ninth in the high jump with a mark of 1.50m. Despite not being a season-high for Gearing, it still was tied for the eighth-best leap in the Conference Carolinas this season.

Pacing the men's team Friday was the duo of Jalen Martin and Austin Thompson. Martin finished 10th with a mark of 6.62m, while Thompson ran a time of 16:01.12 which placed him 14th among 47 runners.

LMC will close out the Buccaneer Classic Saturday. The events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and will run throughout the day from ETSU's Mini-Dome.
