CENTRAL, S.C. – The Lees-McRae College track and field programs finished up a successful weekend at Southern Wesleyan's Susan Rouse Invitational on Saturday. LMC was led on the weekend by Jalen Martin and Luke Rochester, who won the men's 400m hurdles and pole vault, respectively.
In addition to the performances by Martin and Rochester, LMC's men's team had several other standout performances both on the track and in the field. Austin Thompson finished second in in the 5000m run, Tristin Bertie was third in the 1500m run and Joshua Hall finished fifth in the 800m run. In the field events, meanwhile, Cooper Abernathy finished second in the javelin throw, and fifth in the hammer throw. Rishad Felton also notched a top five finish coming in third in the long jump with a leap of 6.53m.
On the women's team, senior Kaitlyn Gearing led the way finishing second in three different events. Gearing was second in the 400m hurdles, high jump and long jump on the weekend. The women's 4x100m relay team finished third and Bayle Wood was fourth in the javelin throw to round out the top five finishes on the weekend.

The Bobcats will return to action next weekend when they travel to Cullowhee, North Carolina to take part in the Benyon Sports Catamount Classic on Friday and Saturday. It is the last meet before the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships on April 27-28.
