BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College men's and women's track and field teams will be back in action on Thursday (Feb. 7) at the JDL Fast Track Team Challenge in Winston-Salem, N.C. Live results will be available at www.lmcbobcats.com.
Event Preview - All events for the meet will begin at 5 p.m.
Last Time Out - The teams competed at the ETSU Open last Friday and Saturday (Feb. 1-2), turning in a solid performance that included a victory in the men's distance medley relay and another school record broken on the women's side.
Men - Blake Radder began the field events with a 36th-place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 10.98 meters, while Logan Styers turned in a 29th-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 5.0 meters. Dylan Williams ran the 60-meter dash in 7.66 seconds, while Alexander Tricot finished in 8.24 seconds. Lees-McRae captured a victory in the distance medley relay (DMR), with the quartet of Anton Ledell, Andrew Garrett Ybarra, Joshua Hall and Tristian Bertie finishing in 10:54.76. Williams also competed in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line in 24.58 seconds. Tricot also ran the 200 in 26.54 seconds. Nolan Capps posted a ninth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run in 16:32.76, while Quinn Reeves finished 23rd in 17:40.84. Jason Saintizaire finished sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.90 meters, while Cooper Abernathy placed 34th in the shot put with a throw of 11.63 meters. Capps finished 29th in the 3,000-meter run in 9:38.62, while Reeves finished 42nd in 10:10.92. Brett Page also competed in the event, crossing the line in 11:03.89. Bertie would finish 20th in the one-mile run in 4:38.56. Joshua Hall would take 26th in the 800-meter run in 2:03.36, while Ybarra would finish 32nd in 2:04.51. The Lees-McRae team of Ledell, Saintizaire, Ybarra and Hall would also finish 14th in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:35.27.
Women - Brittney Augustin posted a 22nd-place finish in the long jump at 4.99 meters, while Millie McCoy finished 27th with a mark of 4.82 meters. Natalie Donahue finished 12th in the pole vault with a mark of 2.80 meters, while Bayle Wood competed in the weight throw with a distance of 13.38 meters. Wood's weight throw broke the Lees-McRae College indoor record of 13.15 meters, previously set by Kayla Powell back on Feb. 28, 2016 at the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track and Field Championships. It is also the second indoor record broken this season on the women's side, as Sariah Dempaire-Salomon broke the indoor shot put record back on Dec. 1 at the Appalachian State Invitational. Dempaire-Salomon also posted a mark of 8.68 meters in the weight throw. The team of Jordyn Halvorsen, Augustin, Sarah Bowman and Brianne Heard finished third in the DMR with a time of 14:29.72. Dempaire-Salomon finished 27th in the shot put with a throw of 10.42 meters, while Hambrook finished 39th with a distance of 8.12 meters. Maegan Prettyman would also place 30th in the 3,000-meter run in 13:59.39. Heard ran the mile in 5:57.05, while Halvorsen (6:18.84) and Bowman (6:22.59) finished back-to-back. Kaela Kelly also ran the 800 in 3:07.81. The team of McCoy, Augustin, Halvorsen and Heard also finished 14th in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:38.35.
Up Next - The teams will be back in Winston-Salem on Sunday, Feb. 17 for the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track and Field Championships.
