BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College men's and women's track and field teams open their outdoor seasons this weekend (Mar. 22-23) at the Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C. Live results for the meet will be available at www.lmcbobcats.com.

Event Preview - The field events begin at 2 p.m. on Friday (Mar. 22) with the men's and women's weight throw, while the 100-meter hurdles are the first running event of the day. Saturday (Mar. 23) begins with the men's and women's triple jump, while the 1,500-meter run is the first running event at 9:30 a.m. The field features athletes from both Division I and Division II.

Last Time Out - The teams last competed at the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track and Field Championships back on Feb. 17.

Men - Logan Welton (5.44 meters) and Logan Styers (5.21 meters) began the day with 18th and 19th-place finishes in the long jump, while Jason Saintizaire placed second and earned All-Conference honors in the high jump with a mark of 1.98 meters. The quartet of Anton Ledell, Andrew Garrett Ybarra and Joshua Hall and Tristin Bertie took second in the distance medley relay (DMR) in 10:52.60 to also be named All-Conference. Cooper Abernathy took fifth in the weight throw with a distance of 12.64 meters, while Blake Radder finished seventh with a mark of 11.25 meters. Abernathy also logged an eighth-place finish in the shot put at 12.91 meters, while Radder finished 12th 10.78 meters and Alex Heck finished 14th in 10.54 meters. Welton (7.65 seconds) and Dylan Williams (7.73 seconds) finished 18th and 19th respectively in the 60-meter dash, while Bertie finished 11th in the mile run in 4:42.39. Corimonte Eatmon also notched a 16th-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 55.83 seconds. Ledell finished sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:00.24, while Joshua Hall crossed the line in 11th in 2:02.70 and Ybarra finished 17th in 2:06.21. Williams also finished 16th in the 200-meter dash in 24.72 seconds, while Welton finished 18th in 26.07 seconds. Nolan Capps also took sixth in the men's 3,000-meter run in 9:21.16. The team of Saintizaire, Ledell, Ybarra and Hall also took eighth in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:32.60.

Women - Bayle Wood led off the day with a 13th-place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 12.59 meters, while Mya Roberts finished 15th at 12.10 meters. Brittney Augustin took 16th in the long jump with a distance of 4.64 meters, while Millie McCoy finished 20th with a jump of 4.37 meters.  Natalie Donahue would finish third in the pole vault for All-Conference honors with a mark of 2.97 meters, while Madison Cantrell finished sixth also at 2.97 meters and Megan Guess took ninth with a mark of 2.67 meters. Jessica Reeves also finished eighth in the high jump with a height of 1.37 meters. Sariah Dempaire-Salomon also earned All-Conference honors finishing third in the shot put with a distance of 11.61 meters, while Roberts finished 13th with a mark of 9.48 meters. The team of Sarah Bowman, Augustin, Kaela Kelly and Jordyn Halvorsen finished sixth in the DMR in 14:55.23. Bowman also finished 16th in the mile run in 6:28.60, while Halvorsen (2:52.09) and Kelly (2:59.34) finished 18th and 19th respectively in the 800-meter run. Augustin also finished 13th in the 200-meter dash in 26.81 seconds, while McCoy finished 18th in 29.24 seconds. The team of Augustin, McCoy, Guess and Halvorsen also finished 10th in the 4x400-meter relay.
