HIGH POINT, N.C. - Five Lees-McRae College track and field athletes were named to the Conference Carolinas Academic All-Conference Teams, announced by the league today (Monday, Apr. 22).
45 women and 18 men totaled 63 student-athletes to be selected to the teams. The league's Academic All-Conference teams are comprised of junior and senior student-athletes who have competed in a sport sponsored by Conference Carolinas and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher. The GPA is calculated based on the student-athlete's cumulative average through the previous semester and each student-athlete must have attended their member institution for at least one academic year.
Dalton Tallent, Nolan Capps, Brett Page and Austin Thompson were selected from the men's team, while Brea Forbes was named from the women's team. This is the first career academic all-conference selection for Tallent, Capps and Page, while being the third for Thompson and Forbes, who were named previously for cross country and women's basketball respectively.
The track and field teams are back in action this weekend (Apr. 26-27) at the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S.C.
