BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College track & field programs announced the signing of Cole Holliday Wednesday afternoon. Holliday, who is an accomplished pole vaulter, comes to the Bobcats after a stellar prep career at Mauldin High School in South Carolina.
As a senior in Mauldin High School, Holliday finished first at the Region 2-5A meet in the pole vault and was named All-Region. It marked the third straight season that Holliday has taken home an All-Region honor. The newest Bobcat also placed seventh at the SCHSL 5A Finals for the pole vault. For 2019, Holliday finished tied for sixth in the state of South Carolina in the event.
The year before when Holliday was a junior, he placed first in the Men's 17-18 pole vault at the SC-AAU Junior Olympic Qualifying. Additionally, Holliday also qualified to compete AAU National Junior Olympics.
Holliday intends on majoring in Sports Management when enrolled at Lees-McRae this fall.
