The Lees-McRae Bobcats men's volleyball team traveled to George Mason University Saturday afternoon, falling in three straight games, (30-26, 30-25 and 30-24), to the Patriots. The Patriots entered the game as the fifteenth ranked team in the AVCA Division I/II men's volleyball poll.
The Patriots managed to rack up better numbers in each statistical category except digs, with the Bobcats earning 25 and the Patriots 17. Today's match marks the second time in program history the teams have played, with Mason taking the season opener from the Bobcats in three games in 2006.
Outside hitter Justin Wozniel led the Bobcats attack with 10 kills while setter Luis Lazzaballet, (pictured top left), dished out a game high 33 assists. Justin Harris led the Bobcats in digs with six.
George Mason opposite hitter Will Price led Mason's attack, finishing with a match-high 22 kills, in addition to a match-high four aces. Outside hitter Hudson Bates also finished in double-digits, with 10 kills on the afternoon, while Billy Freesmeier and Ryan Kwiatkowski split time at setter. Kwiatkowski finished with 25 assists in games two and three, while Freesmeier dished out 18 in the first game. Libero Graham Sheppard led the Patriots with six digs.
The Bobcats will return to the court February 2nd, when Warner
