The Lees-McRae College Bobcats men's volleyball team had their
two game winning streak snapped Friday evening at the hands of New
Jersey Institute of Technology Highlanders, 3-1. The loss drops
the Bobcats record to 4-7 this season.
After opening the match with a gutsy 30-25 win, the home side
was unable to sustain their momentum. The Highlanders came back
strong to take the next three games. 30-22, 30-26, 30-23.
The senior pair of Justin Wozniel and Justin Harris led the
Bobcats attack with 13 kills each. Stephen McDaniel contributed
seven kills and 12 digs while Harris also chipped in ten digs.
Elias Valentin (pictured top right), the national leader in digs
per game (4.34), had a team high 17 digs while Wozniel led the way
at the net with five blocks, (four solo, two assist). Luis
Lazaballet handled the setting for the Bobcats picking up 33 over
the four games while also added a pair of solo blocks.
Both teams will be back in action tomorrow at Williams
Gymnasium with NJIT taking on Mount Olive College Trojans at
11:00am and the Bobcats battling the Trojans at 5:00pm.
