NORTH RIDGE, CALIF. - The Lees-McRae College Bobcats fell in the second straight match on the West Coast with a 3-0 (23-30, 21-30, 19-30) loss to Cal State Northridge, who is ranked second in NCAA men's volleyball.
In the first set with the Bobcats up 10-11, Cal State Northridge went on a 7-0 run to take a 17-11 lead. Cal State would go on to control the set and the match with a 30-23 set one win. In set two, the Bobcats never had a lead and would lose 30-21, and Cal State would complete the sweep with a 30-19 win for the match.
Colin Kelly led the Bobcats for the second straight day with 13 kills. Chad Mercado tallied ten kills on 21 attempts with only three errors for a .333 hitting percentage to lead the team. Juan Ramirez handed out 25 assists, and Ryan Black and Mercado had a solo block apiece to lead the team.
The Bobcats will head back east for the Warner Invitational in Lake Wales, Fla. beginning March 20th at 1:00 p.m. against Fontbonne University.
