Men’s Volleyball Drops Second Match of the DayBox score
BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College Bobcats men's volleyball team fell to the Grand Canyon, 3-1 (25-30, 30-17, 30-22, 30-21) in their second match of the day on Friday in Williams Gymnasium in a nonconference match.
The Bobcats pulled out to an early lead with a 30-25 set one win. However, the Lopes would take the second set 30-17 to tied the match. The Lopes would finish the match with a 30-22 set three win and a 30-21 set four win to seal the match win.
With the loss, the Bobcats slip to 6-7 overall and the Lopes improve to 13-18 overall.
Leading the way for Lees-McRae was Edmund Walkley with 11 kills. Rapheal Vieira followed with nine kills. Juan Ramirez handed out 37 assists, and Kyle Guager had 11 digs.
The Lopes had four players in double-digit kills. Nick Jensen led the way with 14 kills and a .619 hitting percentage. Tyler Capko followed with 13 kills, and Robbie Brannick and Brock Hutchins had 12 kills apiece. Brad Moore passed out 55 assists and Jensen added six total blocks.
The Lopes controlled the net with 13 total blocks compared to four for the Bobcats.
Lees-McRae and Grand Canyon will meet again Saturday at 3 p.m.
