Bobcats listed prominently in NCAA Statistics

INDIANAPOLIS --- Lees-McRae College senior libero Juan Ramirez (Miami, Fla.) continues to challenge for the national lead in digs per set, entering the week ranked second in the nation according to the latest addition of the NCAA Division I men's volleyball statistics.

Lees-McRae (5-6) enters the week after registering an impressive three-set win over King College (Tenn.) last Tuesday, sweeping the Tornado to even its Conference Carolinas record at 1-1. The Bobcats begin the week ranked 19th in the nation in both aces (1.11) and digs (7.92) per set, while also being listed 20th in assists per frame (11.57). Lees-McRae is also ranked 21st in kills per set (12.27), 22nd in blocks per frame (2.16), and 25th in won-lost percentage (0.455).

Ramirez is ranked second in the nation in digs per set for the second consecutive week, averaging 3.12 saves per frame to pace the Bobcats and the conference. Fellow senior Chad Mercado (Orlando, Fla.) is also ranked once again, entering the week fifth in kills per set with an average of 4.88 per frame. Mercado is also ranked 43rd in digs per set (1.65) and 66th in aces per frame (0.21).

Freshman setter Randy Ramirez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) jumps four spots to 11th in assists per set this week, averaging 10.57 helpers per frame, while also being listed 29th in aces per set (0.31). Fellow rookies Matt Harpenau (Cincinnati, Ohio) and John Lucas (Cincinnati, Ohio) are also ranked 50th in blocks per set (0.79), while Juan Ramirez enters the week listed 36th in assists per frame (1.58).

Lees-McRae returns to the court on Wednesday when the Bobcats travel to Gaffney, S.C. to take on Limestone College to resume their conference schedule. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
