Negron paces nation in digs per set

INDIANAPOLIS --- Sophomore Efrain Negron (Caguas, Puerto Rico) is first in the nation in digs per set for the second week in a row, and the Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team is listed in 12 individual and team categories in the latest addition of the NCAA Division I men's volleyball statistics, announced NCAA officials Monday.

Lees-McRae (5-5, 2-1 Conference Carolinas) is off to a 2-1 start in the conference after defeating Limestone College in four sets on Friday night and falling to unbeaten Pfeiffer University on Saturday.

The Bobcats enter the week ranked third in the nation in digs per set (9.55) and seventh in aces per frame (1.37). Lees-McRae is also listed 13th in blocks per set (2.43), 19th in kills per frame (12.0), 20th in winning percentage (0.500), and 22nd in assists per set (11.13).

Negron put together a strong weekend against Limestone and Pfeiffer, recording 30 digs over eight sets to push his nation-leading season average to 3.21, while Joshua Jones (Christmas, Fla.) enters the week ranked ninth in blocks per set (1.29).

Sophomore Jose Ribas (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) is listed 17th in kills per frame (3.71) and 18th in aces per set (0.38) after a strong weekend. Randy Ramirez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) is 17th in assists per set (9.97), as Chris Flood (Louisville, Ky.) ranks 24th in aces (0.34).

Lees-McRae returns to the court on Thursday when the Bobcats travel to Bristol, Tenn. to take on King College in conference play at 7 p.m.
