BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team will return to Williams Gymnasium on Thursday to host Queens (N.C.) University in a non-conference tilt. The first serve between the Bobcats and Royals is slated for 7 p.m.
Last Time Out – LMC wrapped up a trip to Hawaii last week with a victory over Thompson Rivers University in four sets. The win boosts the Bobcats' record to 2-7 on the 2018 campaign.
Rogman on a Roll – Sophomore Wes Rogman has stepped up as of late totaling at least 14 kills in three of his last four matches. Among those performances was an 18-kill outing at Belmont Abbey last Tuesday, which marked a new career-high for the Plainfield, Illinois native.
Starting a Streak – When the Royals visit Banner Elk on Thursday, the Bobcats will look to win back-to-back matches for the first time this season. The odds are in LMC's favor as it sports a 1-1 mark at home compared to a 1-6 mark in road or neutral site matches.
Tough Competition – Entering the second month of the 2018 season, the Bobcats have already faced some of the best men's volleyball squads in the nation. LMC has faced off against three programs that are currently ranked in AVCA National Poll in the form of No. 3 Hawaii, No. 14 Fort Wayne and Ball State who is receiving votes.
About Queens – The Royals are in the midst of their first season as a program in 2018. So far, Queens is 1-8 with its lone victory coming in five sets against Belmont Abbey on January 12. A strength of the Royals' team thus far is balance as they have three players that have 50 or more kills.
