WILSON, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team put together one of its best performances of the 2018 season to date Friday night against league-leader. Despite the stellar effort from LMC, Barton picked up the 3-0 sweep of the Bobcats (25-21, 25-22, 25-18). The loss moves LMC to 2-10 overall and 0-5 in league action.

Set 1 – Barton led LMC by a slim two-point margin early in the first set (9-7) before going on a 6-2 run on the Bobcats changing the score to 13-7. Lees-McRae would claw back to make it 16-15 Barton forcing the Bulldogs to take a timeout. The Bulldogs scored three straight points out of the timeout and then again with the score 22-21 to close out the opening stanza, 25-21.

Set 2 – The second frame of Friday's match was ruled by offense. The Bobcats hit a sizzling .480 as a team on 25 attacks with 14 kills. The Bulldogs, however, still surpassed the output put forth by Lees-McRae hitting .560 as a team on 25 swings. The difference in offense was enough as Barton clinched the second, 25-22, to take a 2-0 lead.

Set 3 – Lees-McRae nearly took the third set from the Bulldogs. LMC led as late as 22-21 in the stanza before Barton picked up three straight points on a block and back-to-back kills to close out the match, 25-18.

Stat Standouts – Lees-McRae had one of its most balanced outings of the season against Barton. Five players had four kills or more in the contest. Wes Rogman totaled a team-high eight kills with Spencer Graf and Chris Woolslayer not far behind with six kills each.

Next Up – The Bobcats will return to action Saturday afternoon when they take on Mount Olive on the road. First serve for that tilt is set for noon.
