MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive upended the Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team in three sets (15-25, 16-25, 22-25) Friday night in Conference Carolinas action. The loss moves Lees-McRae's overall record to 1-9 and 0-7 in conference play.

Set 1 – The story of the first set was the ability of Mount Olive to play effectively and efficiently on both offense and defense. UMO held Lees-McRae to a .087 hitting percentage in the first set, while the Trojan offense hit a match-best .440 on 25 attacks. That disparity in offensive production proved to be the difference as the Trojans went on to win the first frame, 25-15.

Set 2 – Lees-McRae opened the second set scoring four of the first seven points. UMO would answer, however, vaulting ahead of the Bobcats thanks to a 6-0 run to turn the one time deficit into a five-point lead, 9-4. Facing a five-point hole, the Bobcats struggled to make it up and they ultimately fell to the Trojans, 25-16.

Set 3 – Much like in the second set, the Bobcats got out to an early lead before the Trojans rebounded to gain the lead themselves. However this time, Lees-McRae battled back to the score at 18, 19, 20 and 21. Unfortunately, the Bobcats' comeback attempt stalled there and Mount Olive scored four of the next five points to close out the match, 25-22.

Stat Standouts – The tandem of Drew Sims and Tyler Dorfman paced the Bobcat offense Friday. Dorfman hit .462 with a team-high seven kills, while Sims hit .571 himself with five kills. Defensively, Chris Woolslayer led the way with nine digs (3.00 d/s) in the contest.

Next up – The Bobcats will make the short trip to Barton College Saturday for another conference matchup. First serve between Lees-McRae and Barton is scheduled for 2 p.m.
